Top Tourist Attractions In Belarus

Most of the top tourist attractions in Belarus are architectural landmarks. This shouldn’t come as a surprise since Belarus is a European country. Victory Square

A large obelisk built in 1954 is the main highlight of Victory Square. It commemorates Soviet Army soldiers and Belarus partisans who put their lives at stake for liberation. The base of the obelisk contains an eternal flame in honor of soldiers who fought against German Fascists. During holidays, the square is a venue of parades.

The castle has a unique combination of Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance architecture. It was built between the late 15th and early 16th century, resulting in its odd blend of architectural styles. The castle is intended for gunshot defense as well as for heavy cannon shooting. Four towers, one located on each corner, further add to Mir Castle’s imposing aura. If you’re fond of castles, it is one of the top tourist attractions in Belarus.

Gomel Palace and Park

The historic complex comprises of the Duke Rumyantsev and Paskevich Family Chapel, Paskevich Family Palace, and the cathedral of St. Peter and Paul. Built between the late 18th and mid 19th century, the complex was used by the Rumyantsevs and the Paskeviches, noble military commanders of the Russians. The garden surrounding the buildings grow 40 species of exotic plants that can’t be seen anywhere else in Belarus including maples, ash trees, red oak, English oak comb, and elms.

National Library of Belarus

More than 2,000 people come here everyday. The library has the third largest book collection in the world. Originally founded in 1922, the library is now housed inside a modern, 72-meter high building in Minsk. It can accommodate 2,000 readers and an additional 500 people in a conference hall.

Nesvizh Castle and Church

The 13th century castle and church are just two buildings of the ten historic buildings in the area. However, the Nesvizh Castle and Church are the most notable of them all. The historic site boasts a diversity of architectural styles and lovely gardens. They are among the top tourist attractions in Belarus.
