Travel The World On A Budget

It’s a common misconception among people that traveling around the world is expensive. Well, it’s expensive only if you allow it to be. If you set a budget and let it take the wheel throughout your journey, you’ll be surprised at how cheap world travel can actually be. Following are a few tips that can help you travel the world on a budget.

  1. Set a budget. Traveling around the world on a budget cannot begin without you setting a budget. So set your budget first before everything else. Don’t be too tight when it comes to budgeting though. Make sure you have enough for accommodations, food, and transportation. The rest of your budget can be used to planning your itinerary. Even though you’re going to set a budget, make sure that you have a few extra thousand dollars you can pull out in cases of emergency.  Don’t forget to also budget for travel insurance.
  2. Carefully plan your itinerary. Certain countries have lower costs of living compared to others without compensating opportunities to explore great sites and attractions. Carefully plan your itinerary based on a country’s cost of living as well as the travel opportunities that they provide. If there are really places that you want to see in countries with high costs of living, compensate by limiting your stay there or by traveling to less expensive countries in between.  Also look for great deals at places like the Carbon Sports Bar that has great deals.
  3. Avoid traveling during peak season. As much as possible, avoid travelling to a country or resort when it’s “peak season”. During peak season, plane tickets and resort prices are twice or three times more expensive than regular rates. Timeshare resorts, for example, are extremely inexpensive during the off season, so be sure to go online and take a look at a timeshare calendar to find the best time to go.
  4. Travel light. Traveling light will save you travel costs because airline companies charge additional fees for excess baggage. If you plan to take home many souvenirs from a place, send them home via airmail and have someone back home receive them for you.
  5. Go for public transportation. Public transportation is the cheapest way to travel around a country. Buses and trains are the cheapest modes of transportation but taxis might cost you money.
